Story

Private Archibald Aitken (Service no. 2800) was born in Scotland and travelled to Australia in 1910 with his 14 year old brother James. He came to the Illawarra and gained employment as a miner.

He enlisted in the AIF as Archie Aitken Millar (also spent Miller)and embarked with 6th Reinforcement, 19th Battalion on HMAT A14 Euripides on 2nd November, 1915. After training in Egypt where he would have met up with his brother he went with the Battalion to France. Archie was killed in action in France on 8th May, 1916.

He is buried in Brewery Orchard Cemetery Plot 4, Row A, Grave 2, at Bois-Grenier, France.
