Story
John Hunt (Service No 6091) was born in Braidwood, NSW, around 1894.
On 2nd April 1916, John married Elsie Baldwin.
At enlistment he was 22 years old, worked as a farm hand and lived in Bodalla, NSW
Elsie was pregnant when John embarked on HMAT A11 Ascanius with the 18th Battalion, 17th Reinforcement, on 25th October 1916. He disembarked in England on 28th December 1916, and went to France on 15th March 1917, where he joined the 18th Battalion, A Company, on 31st March 1917.
John saw service on the Western Front until 20th September 1917, when he was killed in action. He has no known grave and is remembered on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres in Belgium.
Elsie gave birth to a son.
