Story
Stanley Abbott (Service No 3742) was born in Yarrawonga, Victoria. Some time later the Abbottfamily moved to Scarborough, NSW
At enlistment Stanley was single and working as a wharf labourer. He stated his age as being 21, however he was just 18.
He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A38 Ulysses with 34th Reinforcements, 7th Light Horse Regiment, on 19 December 1917. Stanley arrived in Egypt on 16 January 1918 and saw service in the Middle East.
In March 1918 he was posted to the Light Horse Field Ambulance.
He returned to Australia in July 1919 and was discharged on 19th September 1919.
In 1922 he married Ida Stephenson in Sydney and they had 4 daughters. Stanley died at Bankstown, NSW in 1985 and is buried at Woronora Cemetery.
