Story
John Downie (Service No 57365) was born in Port Kembla, NSW and at the time of enlistment was a single 20 year old engine driver who had spent 2 years in the CMF.
He embarked on HMAT A15 Port Sydney on 17th August 1918 with 4th General Reinforcements, 1st Light Horse Egypt. John saw service in Egypt and was returned to Australia in March 1919 where was discharged on 8th May 1919.
In 1936 he married Mary Britton and died in 1964.
