Story
William Egan (Service No 558) was born in Wollongong, NSW and was a single 26 year old labourer. He enlisted in South Australia and embarked on HMAT A2 Geelong on 31st May 1915 with C Company, 27th Battalion and saw service in the Middle East, France and England.
He was not wounded and returned to Australia in March 1919 and was discharged on 21st July 1919. His brothers Denis (Service No 3020) and Patrick (Service No 1546) also served.
