Story
Richard Longstaff (Service No 640) was born in Korumburra, Victoria. Richardhad been in the Senior Cadets in Victoria before moving to Kiama, NSW
He was living in Kiama when he enlisteda monthafter his brother William. Richard was 21 years of age and worked as a miner at this time.
Richardembarked on HMAT A38 Ulysses on 22nd December 1914 with F Company,13th Battalion.
He landedon the Gallipoli Peninsulaon 25th April 1915and was part of the early fighting. The 13th Battalion were in the trenches at the critical Quinns Post.
Richardwas killed in action on 4th May 1915and has no known grave. Richard's brother William was also killed in action at Galliopliin 1915.
Both Richard and Williamare commemoratedon the Lone Pine Memorial,Gallipoli.
