Story
Albert Noldart (Service No 2423) was born in Hillston, NSW and attended Corrimal Public School. He spent 2 years in the senior cadets and 3 years in 37th infantry CMF. He was a single 21 year old machine operator. Albert embarked on HMAT A32 Themistocoles on 5th October 1915 with 5th Reinforcements, 17th Battalion.
In December 1915 he was admitted to hospital with the mumps. On 16th February 1916 he was transferred to 55th Battalion and 4 days later on the 20th he was promoted to Sergeant. He served in Egypt and on the Western Front.
In July, 1917 his battalion were engaged in the fighting at Fromelle. While leading a charge across no mans land, Albert was was hit by machine gun fire and killed instantly. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the V C Corner Cemetery Wall.
