Roderick Edwin Standen (Service no 12/449) was born in Helensburgh, NSW in 1886.

In 1914 he was 28 years of age and resided in New Zealand. He enlisted with the Auckland Infantry Regiment and embarked from Wellington on 3 December 1914. He arrived in Gallipoli, Turkey as a Lance Corporal on 25 April 1915.

Roderick was killed in action and has no known grave. He is remembered on the Lone Pine Memorial and the Auckland War Memorial.

His brothers George Allen (Service no 118), William Thomas (1204) and Robert Henry (Service no 5228) also served.
