Frederick Marr was born in Thirroul, NSW and attended Thirroul Public School.

At the time of enlistment Frederick was single, 24 years of age and employed as a civil servant. He was trained at Duntroon, ACT before embarking on HMAT A29 - Suevic as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 4th Battalion, 23rd Reinforcements on 11 November 1916 for England.

Frederick arrived in England on 30 January 1917 and was promoted to Lieutenant on 16th March 1917. He joined the 4th Battalion in France on 2nd May 1917 and saw service on the Western Front.

In November 1919 he was returned to Australia and was discharged in the 2nd Military District on 30 January 1920.

Frederick returned to the civil service and retired as the Stamp Duties Commissioner in 1947.

In 1945 he married Marie Knight in Sydney, NSW.

Frederick died in 1961.

Frederick is remembered on the Thirroul Public School Roll of Honor along with his brother Harold (service number 2684) who also served.
