William Strong (Service No 2505) was born in Jamberoo, N.S.W.

At enlistment in Cairns, Qld, he was 28 years old, and worked as a farmer.

William embarked from Brisbane, Qld, on HMAT A49 Seang Choon, with the 47th Battalion, 5th Reinforcement, on 19th September 1916. He disembarked in England on 9th December 1916 and joined the 47th Battalion in the field on 7th April 1917.

William was wounded in action at Messines, Belgium, on 7th June 1917 and evacuated to hospital for treatment of multiple gun shot wounds to his neck, hip and arm. He recovered and was back with his unit on 14th August 1917. William saw service on the Western Front and was wounded a second time on 29th April 1918. He was evacuated to hospital in England, for treatment of a gun shot wound to his face. William returned to Australia in June 1919 and was discharged medically unfit on 19th September 1919.

William returned to farming in Queensland.

William died in Qld in 1965.
