William Bould (Service No 4795) was born in Leek, England.

He arrived in Australia sometime after 1911.

At enlistment he was 19 years old, single, worked as a railway employee and lived in Wollongong, N.S.W.

William embarked on HMAT A38 Ulysses with the 1st Pioneer Battalion, 14th Reinforcement, on 19th December 1917. He disembarked in England on 13th February 1918 and joined the 1st Pioneers in France on 6th June 1918. William was wounded in action on 5th July 1918 and was admitted to hospital for treatment of shrapnel wounds to his right leg. He returned to his unit on 2nd September 1918.

William returned to Australia in July 1919. He was discharged on 28th September 1919.

In 1922, William married Elizabeth McIntosh in Sydney, N.S.W.

William died in Concord Hospital, Concord, N.S.W., in 1968.
