Archibald Loil McKinnon (Service No 5693) was born in Wollongong, N.S.W., in 1892.

At enlistment he was 24 years old, single, worked as a grocers assistant and lived in Nowra, N.S.W.

Archibald embarked on HMAT A14 Euripides, with the 19th Battalion, 15th Reinforcement, on 9th September 1916. He arrived in England on 20th October 1916 and joined the 19th Battalion in France, on 18th December 1916. Archibald saw service on the Western Front and was promoted to Lance Corporal on 22nd July 1917.

On 4th August 1918, he was promoted to Corporal and then promoted to Sergeant on 24th August 1918. Archibald was returned to Australia in July 1919 for discharge.

On 29th December 1923, he married Elsie Bailie in Nowra, N.S.W.

Archibald died in Sydney, N.S.W., in 1972.
