David Campbell (Service no 1682) was born in Kiama, NSW.

At the time of enlistment David was single, 26 years of age, employed as a dairy farmer, resided in Gerringong, NSW and had previously served 18 months with the Militia.

David embarked on the HMAT A34 - Persic with the 6th Light Horse Regiment, 12th Reinforcements on 18 November 1915.   He arrived in Egypt where he was admitted to hospital suffering from the mumps on 27 December 1915.

David joined the 6th Light Horse Regiment on 20 January 1916.  He saw service in Egypt and the Middle East until 10 September 1917 when he joined his brother, George Campbell (Service no 3114) in the ANZAC Mounted Division Train,  33 Company, Australian Army Service Corps.

David was granted leave in London after the War and returned to Australia in June 1919.  He was discharged on 20 August 1919.

On 2 May 1925 David married Irene Lord in Berry, NSW and together they raised 4 children.

David saw service during the second World War as a Sergeant (Service no N267014) from 5 May 1942 until 15 September 1945 with the 13th Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps.

David died in Gerringong, NSW in 1966.
