Geoffrey Lewis Hagerave (Service No 41) was the only son of Lawrence and Margaret Hargrave.  Like his father Lawrence Hargrave, Geoffrey had an interest in inventions and was encouraged to pursue studies in engineering at Sydney Technical College.

Geoffrey enlisted soon after the outbreak of war and sailed for Egypt on 22 December 1914 on HMAT Ulysses.  He was a Draftsman when he enlisted.  He was in the 2nd Australian Expeditionary Force (under the nickname 'Stirrups') but was transferred again to the Dardanelles in 1915. 

Geoffrey is buried at Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey.  Geoffrey Lewis Hargrave's name is located on panel 69 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial
