Arthur Walker (Service no 2508) was born in Dapto, NSW.

At the time of enlistment Arthur was single, 18 years of age and employed as a labourer.

Arthur embarked on HMATA 47 - Mashobra with the 53rd Battalion, 5th Reinforcements on 14 September 1916.  Arthur arrived in England on 2 November 1916 and was sent to France soon after, joining the 53rd Battalion in France on 14 December 1916.

Arthur saw service on the Western Front and was attached to 14th Field Company Engineers for a week in November 1917.

On 21 March 1918, Arthur was wounded in action and evacuated to hospital for treatment as a result of a gas attack.  He was transferred to the 21st Machine Gun Battalion on 25 May 1918 and joined them in France on 15 August 1918.

Arthur returned to Australia in June 1919 and was discharged on 4 September 1919.

On 11 September 1920 he married Ella Webber in Sydney and together they raised 2 children.

Arthur died in Parramatta in 1965.
