Harry Robert Hardie
Harry Hardie (Service no 2653) was born in Townsend, Queensland.
At the time of enlistment Harry was single, 19 years of age, employed as a labourer, resided in Jamberoo, NSW, had previously served 4 years with the Cadets and 1 year with 37th infantry Militia.
Harry embarked on HMAT A40 - Ceramic with the 45th Battalion, 6th Reinforcements on 7 October 1916. He arrived in England on 21 November 1916 and joined the 45th Battalion in France on 18 January 1917.
Harry saw service on the Western Front until he was wounded in action at Messines, Belgium on 7 June 1917. He was evacuated to hospital in England for treatment of gun shot wounds to his face and right arm.
Deemed unfit for further active service he was repatriated to Australia in December 1917 where he was medically discharged with a pension on 31 July 1918.
Harry died in 1955.
