Allan Bruce Cameron
Allan Cameron (Service No 2284) was born in Kiama, NSW.
At the time of enlistment Allan was single, 18 years of age, employed as a farmer and had prevously served with 37th Infantry Militia.
Allan embarked on HMAT A67 - Orsova with the 7th Light Horse Regiment, 15th Reinforcements on 11 March 1916. He arrived in Egypt on 14 April 1916 and joined the 6th Light Horse Regiment, 2nd Double Squadron on 6 July 1916. His brother, William Cameron (Service No 242) was also serving in this Unit.
On 2 November 1916, Allan transferred to the Camel Corps. He saw service in Egypt and the Middle East.
Allan was admitted to hospital on 5 April 1917 with an abscess on his leg and while in hospital was diagnosed with Jaundice.
On 1 August 1918, Allan was promoted to Corporal and then to Sergeant on 9 September 1918. Allan was posted to the Signal Squadron on 28 June 1919.
Allan returned to Australia in July 1919 and was discharged on 24 October 1919.
Allan died in 1954 and there is no mention of a wife or children.
Allan is remembered on the Kiama War Memorial along with his brother William.
