Roy David Stephenson
Roy David Stephenson (Service No 3119) was born in Goulburn, N.S.W., around 1897.
At enlistment he was 18 years old (although he claimed to be 21 years old), single, and worked as a bottler.
Roy embarked on HMAT A 69 Warialda, with his brother, Frederick Stephenson (Service No 3118) and the 1st Battalion, 10th Reinforcement, on 8th October 1915. After disembarking in Egypt he was transferred to the 25th Howitzer Brigade on 17th March 1916. On 25th June 1916, he arrived in France and saw service on the Western Front.
On 24th January 1917, Roy was transferred to the 14th Field Artillery Brigade. He was returned to Australia in December 1918, and discharged medically unfit with debility, on 25th April 1919.
In 1920 Roy married Vera Selby and the couple raised one child.
Roy died in Sydney, N.S.W., in 1930 and is buried in Rookwood Cemetery, Rookwood, N.S.W.
Roy's brothers Edwin Stephenson (Service 1392) and Frederick Stephenson (Service No 3118), also served.
