Norman Martin (Service no 9912) was born in Wollongong, NSW.

At the time of enlistment Norman stated he was single, 21 years of age and employed as a hairdresser.  Norman was actually only 18 and a half years of age.

Norman embarked on HMAT A31 - Ajana with 9th Field Company Engineers on 5 July 1916.  He arrived in England on 11 August 1916.  Norman was posted to France arriving on 22 November 1916 where he saw service on the Western Front with the Engineers.

Norman returned to Australia in June 1919 and was discharged on 25 September 1919.

In 1922 he married Leah Chinnick and together they had 2 children.

Norman died in 1942.

Norman's brother Edward Martin (Service no 1595) also served.
