Arthur Lindsay (Service no 4476) was born in Shellharbour, NSW.

At the time of enlistment Arthur was single, 40 years of age, employed as a labourer and had served previously as a Corporal (Service no 213) with the Brabant's Horse Bushveldt Carbineers.

Arthur embarked as an Acting Corporal on the HMAT A71 - Nestor with the 19th Battalion, 11th Reinforcements on 9 April 1916.  Arthur was admitted to hospital in England on 25 July 1916 with an injury to his right wrist.

Arthur was returned to Australia in October 1916 and medically discharged on 3 January 1917.

In 1918 Arthur was working as a driver for Yeoval Freezing Works at Bathurst, NSW when he was involved in a traffic accident that resulted in his death.

Arthur's brother, Walter Lindsay (Service no 2401) also served.
