Details: 

Charles Patrick Harris (Service No 7142), was born in Curragh, Ireland around 1874 and came to Australia some time before 1911. In 1911, he married Clara Russell, and they were living in Helensburgh, N.S.W., when he enlisted.

At enlistment, he was 42 years old, worked as a fireman and had served 4 years with The Middlesex Regiment of the British Army. Charles embarked on HMAT A14 Euripides, with the 17th Battalion, 21st Reinforcement, on 31st October 1917. He arrived in England on 26th December 1917, and joined the 17th Battalion in France, on 16th April 1918. Charles saw service on the Western Front until the end of the war. Charles returned to Clara, and their children, in July 1919, and was discharged on 5th October 1919.

Charles died in Helensburgh, N.S.W., in 1953.
