William Gray (Service no 1066) was born in Wollongong, NSW in 1892.

At the time of enlistment, William was single, 25 years of age and employed as a fitter and turner. 

William embarked on RMS Omrah from Melbourne, Victoria on 17 January 1917 with Australian Flying Corps,  4 Squadron, C Flight.  He arrived in England on 27 March 1917 and was sent for training as an air mechanic qualifying on 1 September 1917.

William was sent to France on 16 December 1917 and served there until the end of the War.

William returned to Australia in May 1919 and discharged on 27 July 1919.

William died in Bulli, NSW in 1973.
