William Laurence (Service no 1331) was born in Hereford, England.

On his enlistment papers it states that William is married, 48 years of age, employed as a miner and resides in Thirroul, NSW. He listed his wife Rachael as next of kin and indicated that he had prior service with a British Unit for 17 years discharging with the rank of Corporal.

William embarked on HMAT A67 - Orsova as a Sergeant with the Australian Remount 2, Squadron 5 on 10 November 1915.   He arrived in Egypt in December and served until May 1916 when he was returned to Australia and discharged on 17 June 1916 due to his Unit being disbanded.
