Robert John Herron (Service No 4095), was born in Sydney, N.S.W., in 1870, but listed Bulli, N.S.W., as his place of birth on his enlistment documents.

At enlistment he stated he was single, 44 years old, worked as an engineer and lived in Newcastle, N.S.W.

Robert embarked on HMAT A72 Beltana, with 1st Pioneer Battalion, 11th Reinforcement, on 16th June 1917. He arrived in England on 25th August 1917, and served there, until he was returned to Australia, in June 1918. On 29th August 1918, Robert was discharged medically unfit with senility.

 Robert died in Liverpool in 1948.
