Ernest Foreman (Service no 3306) was born in Manning River, NSW in 1882.

At the time of enlistment he was single, 35 years of age, employed as a baker and resided in Shellharbour, NSW.

Ernest embarked on HMAT A28 - Miltiades with the 35th Battalion, 8th Reinforcements on 2 August 1917. He arrived in England on 2 October 1917 and joined the 35th Battalion in France on 8 February 1918.

Ernest's active service ended on 30 March 1918 when he was wounded in action. He was evacuated to hospital for treatment of a gun shot wound to his left ankle.  He was listed as dangerously ill when his leg was amputated on 4 May 1918.

Ernest was repatriated to Australia in January 1919 and after further treatment was medically discharged on 22 August 1919.

On 15 March 1922 he married Evelyn Anderson in Melbourne, Victoria and they returned to Sydney, NSW where they lived until they both died in 1929. (Evelyn in January and Ernest in June).
