Francis Albert Dwyer
Francis Albert Dwyer (Service No 7231), was born in Wollongong, N.S.W., in October 1889.
At enlistment, in Kiama, N.S.W., he was single, 26 years old, worked as a draper and lived in Wollongong, N.S.W.
Francis embarked on RMS Osterley, with 2nd Battalion, 24th Reinforcement, on 10th February 1917. He arrived in England on 11th April 1917, and joined 1st Battalion in France, on 26th November 1917. Francis saw service on the Western Front, until he was wounded in action, on 20th September 1918. He was evacuated to hospital in England, for treatment of shell concussion. Francis was repatriated to Australia, in January 1919, and discharged medically unfit, on 23rd April 1919.
On 10th September 1924, Francis married Mabel Shilcock, and they had one child.
Francis died in Wollongong, N.S.W., in 1959.
