Norman Burley (Service No 6481) was born in Wollongong, NSW.

At enlistment Norman was single, 24 years old and employed as a school teacher. 

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A67 Orsova on 10th November 1915.  After arriving in Egypt, Norman was posted to 1st Light Horse Field Ambulance on 31st December 1915 and saw service in Egypt and the Middle East.

Norman was promoted to Lance Corporal on 16th August 1916.

On 22nd August 1917 he was promoted to Corporal.

On 3rd August 1918 Norman was promoted to Sergeant.

On 9th November 1918, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant.

Norman was returned to Australia in May 1919 and discharged from the AIF on 21st November 1919.

In 1919 Norman married Mary Kingwell in Sydney.

He died in Gosford in 1970.
