Hypolit Brynkeveh (Service No 2385/ 2385A)was born in Poland around 1888.  The time of his arrival in Australia is unknown.

Hypolit enlisted as a Polish citizen in Corrimal, N.S.W. when he was 28 years old.  He was single and worked as a cotton worker.  He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A68 Anchises with 45th Battalion, 5th Reinforcementon 24th August 1916.  He arrived in England on 11th October 1916 and joined 45th Battalion in France on 1st January 1917.

Hypolit saw service on the Western Front until he was wounded in action on 18th June 1918.  He was evacuated to hospital for treatment of a gun shot wound to his head. He returned to duty on 20th July 1918.

On 1st September 1918 Hypolit was promoted to Lance Corporal.

He returned to Australia in June 1919 and was discharged on 13th September 1919.

In 1921 he married Eva Kay in Sydney.
