George Fell (Service No 54416) was born in Wollongong, NSW. On 28th November 1908 he married Hannah Wennholm and they had 4 children.
At enlistment George was 30 years old, worked as an engineer, and the family lived at Penshurst in Sydney. He embarked from Sydney on SS Feldmarschall with NSW Reinforcement 7 on 19th June 1918. After he arrived in England on 26th August 1918 George was sent to France where he joined 3rd Motor Transport Company on 2nd February 1919.
George remained in France working with the Graves Registration Unit until 1920.
He returned to Australia in January 1920 and was discharged from the AIF on 23rd March 1920.
George's brother, Charles, also served and was killed at Gallipoli.
