Robert Fell (Service No 338) was born in Hopwood, England around 1880, and had served with Kings Own Royal Lancashire Regiment before coming to Australia.  Robert married Mary Broughton in Bolton, England in 1912.

The couple came to Australia soon after and were living in Corrimal, N.S.W. when he enlisted.  At that time Robert was 34 years old and worked as a cook.  Robert was one of the first to enlist.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A35 Berrima with the Australian Naval & Military Expeditionary Force on 19th August 1914 and saw service in Rabaul.  Robert returned to Australia at the end of his 6 months service and was discharged on 4th March 1915.

Robert and Mary moved to Riverstone after the war, and Robert died there in 1943 after a long illness.

He is buried in Riverstone Cemetery.
