Thomas Franklin (Service No 2983) was born in December 1892.

At the time of enlistment he was single, 22 years of age, lived in Unanderra, NSW and was employed as a fisherman.

He embarked on HMAT A8 - Argyllshire with the 1st Battalion, 9th Reinforcements on 30 September 1915, arriving in Egypt on 30 October 1915.

Thomas arrived in France on 28 March 1916 where he served with his unit during the Somme battles.  He was wounded in action sometime between 22 and 25 July 1916 and  was evacuated to hospital in England for treatment of a gun shot wound to his right foot.

Thomas wad deemed medically unfit for further active service, returned to Australia in March 1917 and medically discharged on 7 June 1917.

In 1926 he married Gladys Huxley.

He enlisted for service in World War on 10 June 1941 and served as a cook with 2nd Garrison Battalion until 7 January 1942.

Thomas  died in 1956 and is buried in Woronora Cemetery.  His Father and brothers also served.
