Aaron Barrett (Service No 4096) was born in Wolverhampton, England. He served 12 years with the Kings Shropshire Light Infantry from 1897 until 1909. On 28th March 1910 he married Maria Attwood and they came to with their 2 children to Australia in March 1913.

At enlistment Aaron was 36 years old, worked as a miner and the family lived at Woonona, N.S.W.  He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A67 Orsova with 1st Australian Field Ambulance, 7th Reinforcement on 14th July 1915.

He arrived on Gallipoli on 24th August 1915 but was admitted to hospital with influenza on 8th September 1915.  He returned to duty on 21st October 1915.

Aaron arrived in France on 30th March 1916 and saw service on the Western Front until the end of the war.

While not wounded, Aaron suffered from ill health while serving. He was returned to Australia in April 1919 and discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 11th August 1919.

Aaron returned to the Illawarra and was living in Dapto in 1937.

In November 1959 he returned to England and died in Durham in 1960.
