Edward Hugh Oprey (Service No 1507), was born in Sydney, N.S.W.

At enlistment, he was single, 21 years old and worked as a blacksmith.

Edward embarked on HMAT A14 Euripides, with 6th Light Horse Regiment,11th Reinforcement, on 2nd November 1915. He arrived in Egypt on 27th December 1915, and served in Egypt and the Middle East, with the Light Horse Regiment, until 19th July 1917, when he transferred to the Provost Corps.

On 26th October 1918, Edward was admitted to hospital with malaria. On 10th February 1919, he was promoted to corporal. He returned to Australia in July 1919, and was discharged on 21st October 1919.

In 1920, he married Daisy Buckley, in Wollongong, N.S.W. and they had one child.

Edward died in Wollongong, in 1960, and is buried in Bulli Cemetry, Bulli, N.SW.
