Guido Weber (Service No 6848) was born in Dubbo, N.S.W.  In 1902 he married Amelia Talbot in Wollongong, N.S.W. and they had 3 children before she died in 1911.  In 1912 he married Caroline Talbot and they had 2 children and the family lived in Wollongong when Guido enlisted at the age of 37.  Guido was a school teacher and had served 2 years with the Light Horse Militia. 

He embarked from Sydney on SS Port Nicholson with 22nd Reinforcements, 2nd Battalion on 8th November 1916.  He arrived in England on 10th January 1917 and was posted to a training role in England.

Guido joined 2nd Battalion in Belgium on 7th October 1917.  He saw service on the Western Front until 8th November 1917 when he was wounded while in a dugout with 4 other soldiers.  The men were buried by a shell, and Guido was rescued, but he stayed at his post.  After being relieved and on his way to a back area 12 hours later he collapsed. He was subsequently admitted to hospital in France for treatment of shell shock.

Guido was returned to Australia in February 1918 and discharged from the AIF as medically unfit on 26th April 1918.

Guido died in 1954 and is buried in Woronora Cemetery, N.S.W.
