Charles Noble (Service No 4563) was born in Wollongong, N.S.W. and enlisted in the Navy on his 16th birthday.

Charles saw service on various ships during World War 1 and left the Navy in 1922.

He joined the NSW Police force and served for 18 years, having spent 10 years with the water police.

In 1940 Charles re-enlisted in the Navy and was a Regulating Petty Officer on HMAS Sydney.

Charles went down with the ship in the Indian Ocean on 20th November 1941.

His next of kin was his wife Lelia.
