Charles Catt (Service No 14027) was born in Woonona, N.S.W.

At enlistement Charles was single, 18 years old and employed as a fitter.  Charles had served 5 years in the Militia.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A20 Hororata with 3rdRreinforcements, 14th Field Company Engineers on 2nd May 1916.  The troops arrived in England and Charles was sent on to France on 25th January 1917 where he joined 7th Field Engineers as a driver and general mechanic.

Charles saw service on the Western Front.

He returned to Australia in July 1919 and was discharged on 28th October 1919.

On 3rd April 1920 he married Melba Morris and they had one child.

Charles and Melba lived in the Illawarra, N.S.W. and Charles died in Bulli Hospital in 1961.

Charles' service is recorded on the Bulli-Woonona War Memorial.
