Richard O'Donnell Finigan
Richard Finigan was born in Taree, N.S.W.
A Methodist, Richard trained for the Ministry. On 24th March 1910 he married Winifred Duesbury in Queensland and they had one child.
At enlistment Richard was 35 years old, and was assigned to the Methodist Parsonage at Wollongong, N.S.W. He was posted as ship's Chaplain on HMAT7 Medic for the trip to Egypt.
On 16th November 1915 Richard was promoted to Captain and served with the Light Horse Regiment in Egypt.
Richard eventually went to England and then on to the Western Front.
On 16th November 1917 he was promoted to Major and while in France he served with 4th Machine Gun Battalion.
Richard was returned to Australia in May 1919 and was discharged on 14th August 1919.
He also served as a Chaplain in World War II.
Richard died in Queensland in 1966.
