George McLeod (Service No 6369) was born in Bega, N.S.W.

George enlisted at the age of 21 when he was single, worked as a grazier, and lived at Albion Park, N.S.W.  George and his brother Donald (Service No 6370) were farmers together, enlisted together (they have consecutive Service numbers), and seem to have stayed together throughout the war, returning home on the same ship.

George embarked from Sydney on HMAT A29 Suevic with 18th Reinforcements, 18th Battalion on 11th November 1916.  The troops arrived in England on 30th January 1917 and George joined 18th Battalion in France on 20th May 1917.

George saw service on the Western Front and 18th Battalion saw impressive service at Ypres, Passchendaele and St Quentin.

He returned to Australia in July 1919 and was discharged on 16th October 1919.

On 26th May 1923 he married Mary Brimner in Sydney.
