Robert Miller was born in Corrimal, NSW about 1897. His enlistment documents indicate his parents were deceased when he enlisted and he named a sister, J. Trivett, as his next of kin. Robert was a single 18 year old Wheeler from Corrimal and had served in the Cadets and CMF.

He embarked from Melbourne on HMAT A17 Port Lincoln with 3rd Reinforcements, 59th Battalion on 4th May 1916 and arrived in Egypt on 10th June 1916. Robert was sent to France on 8th August 1916 where he saw service on the Western Front with 59th Battalion until 25th November 1916 when he transferred to 60th Battalion. Soon after on 13th December 1916 he was admitted to hospital with trench foot. Robert returned to the front on 13th March 1917.

He was again admitted to hospital sick on 23rd September 1918 but joined 59th Battalion at the front on 27th September 1918. On 18th October 1918 he was admitted to 3rd Australian General Hospital in France with Influenza. His condition deteriorated and on 5th November 1918 Robert died from Bronco-Pneumonia. He is buried in Abbeville Communal Cemetery Extension Plot V, Row A, Grave 43.
