Jack Mawle Huxley
Jack Huxley (Service No 2652) was born in Nowra, NSW. At the time of enlistment he was a single 18 year old packer from the Kangaroo Valley. He embarked on HMAT A40 Ceramic with 6th Reinforcements, 45th Battalion on 7th October 1916. After arriving in England on 21st November 1916 he joined 6 Platoon, B Company, 45th Battalion in France on 18th January 1917.
He saw service on the Western Front and was fighting in the Messines battle when he was killed in action. He received a chest wound and died on his way to the dressing station. He has no known grave and is remembered on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres Belgium.
