Donald McDonald (Service No 2384) was born in Corrimal, N.S.W. around 1892.

Donald enlisted in Victoria at the age of 23, when he was single and employed as a miner.  There are documents on file for enlistment on 10th March 1915 but he is finally accepted in September that year.

He embarked from Melbourne on HMAT A68 Anchises with 4th Reinforcements, 31st Battalion on 14th March 1916.  The troops arrived in Egypt on 15th April 1916 and Donald was sent on to England on 16th June 1916.  He finally joined C Company, 31st Battalion in France on 22nd September 1916.

On 27th September 1917 while engaged in fighting at Polygon Wood, Donald was killed in action. There is no known grave.  Donald is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres, Belgium.
