Stanley Gordon (Service No 3301) was born in Jamberoo, N.S.W. He enlisted when he was 23 years of age: Stanley was single and employed as a motor mechanic.

Stanly embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A14 Euripides with 11th Reinforcements, 3rd Battalion, on 2nd November 1915.  After arriving in Egypt he was transferred to 53rd Battalion on 16th February 1916, and sailed with them to France, arriving on 28th June 1916.

On 8th May he was promoted to Lance Corporal.  Stan Gordon was with B Company, 53rd Battalion, at the battle of Fromelles.  He was wounded on 19th July 1916 sustaining a severe gun shot wound to his shoulder and was evacuated to hospital in England on 3rd August 1916.

Stanley returned to his unit in France on 11th December 1916.  He served on the Western Front, and on 10th April 1917 he was promoted to Corporal.  On 17th April 1918 he was wounded again, this time by gassing.  Stanley was evacuated to 12th General Hospital for treatment but died on 28th April 1918.

Stanley is buried in St Sever Cemetery, Rouen, France: Block P, Plot XI, Row H, Grave 2A.
