Peter Malcolm (Service No 4739) was born in Scotland around 1891 and was living at Helensburgh, N.S.W., when he enlisted at the age of 25.  Peter worked as a labourer and was and nominated his father, living in Scotland, as his next of kin.

He embarked from Sydney on board SS Ceramic with 12th Reinforcements, 19th Battalion, on 13th April 1916.  On 12th June 1916, shortly after Peter arrived in England, he became ill and was admitted to hospital.  He was discharged 5 days later and sent to France on 6th September 1916.  Here he joined the 19th Battalion in the field on 20th September 1916 and served until 15th November 1916 when he was wounded.

Peter was evacuated to 36th Casualty Clearing Station for treatment of gun shot wounds to his head, leg, right arm and abdomen.  He died of these wounds on 17th November 1916.

Peter is buried in Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L'Abbe, France: Plot V, Row G, Grave 22
