William Hutchison (Service No 6020) was born in Kircaldy, Scotland and emigrated to Australia sometime  before enlisting.

He enlisted when he was living in Towradgi, N.S.W.  He was 23 years old, single and employed as a miner.

William embarked from Sydney on HMAT A18 Wiltshire with the 4th Battalion, 19th reinforcements on 22nd August 1916.  He arrived in England on 30th October 1916.

William was sent on to France, arriving on 20th December 1916.  He served on the Western Front with 4th Battalion D Company.  William was killed in action on 6th May 1917.

There is no information available about his death and he has no known grave.

William is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneaux, France.

His brother, G Hutchison, who also lived at Towradgi advised the authories that their father, John, was living in Scotland and their mother was deceased.
