Robert Roberts (Service No 2953) was born in Wagga Wagga, N.S.W.  On 13th June 1914 Robert married Agnes O'Dowd and a son was born in 1915.

When Robert enlisted he was living in Corrimal, N.S.W. and he worked as a coal miner. 

Robert embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A19 Afric with 7th Reinforcements, 58th Battalion on 3rd November 1916 and the troops arrived in England on 9th January 1917.

Robert served on the Western Front, arriving in France on 26th March 1917.  On 15th September 1918 he was promoted to Lance Corporal.  Robert returned to Australia after the war ended, in July 1919, and was discharged on 5th December 1919.

After Robert's wife Agnes died he married Hilda Hill in 1921 and the couple had a number of children together.

Robert died In 1949 after suffering a stroke.
