Thomas Osborne (Service No 2696) was born around 1882 in Cardiff, near Orange, N.S.W.  In 1903 he married Florence McLean and they had 5 children together.

Thomas enlisted when he was 33 years old and lived in Wollongong, N.S.W. where he worked at a smelter.

Thomas embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A40 Ceramic with 6th Reinforcements, 45th Battalion on 7th October 1916.  He arrived in England on 21st November 1916 but soon after became ill.  He was admitted to the Military Hospital at Sutton Veny on 10th December 1916 where he died of pneumonia.

Thomas was buried with full military honours at Codford St Mary New Churchyard, Wiltshire, England: Grave 45.

Thomas' brother Reuben also served, and was killed in action in Messines, Belgium.
