Evan Meredith (Service No 2677) was born in Katoomba, N.S.W. around 1894.

He enlisted at Bulli, N.S.W. when he was 21 years old.  He was single and employed as a miner.

Evan embarked on HMAT A40 Ceramic with the 6th Reinforcements, 45th Battalion on 7th October 1916.  After training in England he arrived in France on 18th January 1917.

Evan served on the Western Front with 45th Battalion A Company.   On 9th June 1917 A Company were in the trenches at Messines Ridge when a shell hit the trench and Evan was killed.

There is no known grave for Evan.  His service & sacrifice is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres, Belgium & the Bulli-Woonona War Memorial.
