Stuart Kirton (Service No 16281)  was born at Clifton near Wollongong, N.S.W in 1879.

Stuart married Ethel Sarah Johnson in 1912.  When he enlisted he was 37 years old and working as an engine driver and farmer. 

He embarked on HMAT A29 Suevic on 11th November 1916 with 1st Field Company Engineers to serve as a driver.  He arrived in France on 17th October 1917 and saw service on the Western Front. 

Stuart survived the war uninjured.  He was returned to Australia in August 1919 and discharged on 11th November 1919
