Robert William Booth (Service No 2991) was born in Jamberoo, N.S.W.  He enlisted at Menangle Park, Sydney, N.S.W. when he was 22 years old.  At this time Robert was working as a farmer, and his father, his next of kin, lived at Woodstock, Jamberoo, in the Illawarra region of N.S.W.

Robert served in the Sinai and Palestine Campaigns, at Gaza and Port Said. He was promoted to Acting Sergeant in January 1917.  On 2 May 1919 Robert was promoted to Lance Corporal.

He returned to Australia in March 1919, and was discharged from the AIF, medically unfit, on 1 June 1919.
