Sydney Gordon (Service No 1321) was born in Wollongong, N.S.W.

When he enlisted he was a single 18 year old soldier, serving with the Royal Australian Garrison Artillery.

Sydney embarked on HMAT A71 Nestor on 28th February 1918 with 36th Australian Heavy Artillery Group.  Sydney served in England.  He became ill with German measles in June 1918, then was again admitted to hospital in September 1918 with influenza.  From then on Sydney was in and out of hospital and eventually returned to Australia in April 1919.

David was discharged medically unfit on 10th August 1919.

In 1929 he married Eva Tubman in Wollongong.

David is commorated on the Wollongong Presbyterian Church Roll of Honour.
